So, I was getting complaints from everyone that I was writing often enough. Well I hope you're happy now;) I just didn't have a whole lot of time lately to write in here, so that is my reason. I have a really busy week coming up. I have three tests, a lab report due, and a presentation in anatomy. The good news is I am done writing my lab report and the presentation should be cake. I am doing a presentation over the brain in my discussion section. I have to talk for about 5 minutes and I have to use a visual aid (power point). I already know a little bit about the brain from previous classes and my discussion TA is really cool, so I'm not worried at all.

In organic chemsitry lab this week we did a Diels-Alder reaction. It is named after two German chemists that figured out how to produce cyclic organic compounds from reacting compounds with double bonds. Well, anyways the point of the story is: it was a really, really sweet reaction. I was pouring the liquid out of my test tube into a beaker where it would crystallize and it crystallized a little before it ever got out of the test tube. It was absolutely amazing. It look like snow flakes. It was the most excited I've ever been before in that class. Yeah, I know you are thinking I am a true nerd, organic syntheses were getting me all fired up. Oh well, gotta get my jollies somehow, right?

Anyways, I am in the process of converting my old touring bike into a single speed. It is coming along quite nicely. I sawed off the handle bars partially and made them into bull horn handle bars. I got the chain tensioner and spacer kit in the mail this week. All I have left to do is take off the rear cassette and replace it with a single cog, put on the chain tensioner, and buy a new chain. It is going to be so awesome. I can't wait till it is complete. Here is an in progress photo:

I went on a bike ride this morning. I went by myself out to the mall and back on the trail. I didn't want to take long because I had studying to do. On the way back I stopped at John's to see what he was doing for the Iowa game. Like me, he had tons of stuff to do. So he couldn't come over and watch the game. What a nerd/loser. No, I'm joking because I am in the same situation. I just like to give him a hard time. Anyways, the ride was totally awesome. I got to wear some heavy layers of cycling clothing because it is getting a little chilly. It was quite cold this morning, but it warmed up to be a nice day in the afternoon. I got to wear my new sweet long sleeve jersey from Sweden that my mom bought me this summer. I had on sweet knee warmers and booties that Jane picked up for me at REI. Also, I had on my new RoadID. It is the bright thing in the photo. It has my name, phone number, mom's work phone number, and dad's work number engraved on it. If I ever get hit by some hillbilly, people will know who to call then! Ben, I told your mom that you need one these. Julie you need one too. Website: www.roadid.com. I was totally decked out:

I don't think I will be going on the Sunday morning ride tomorrow because I want to sleep in for once. There will probably be someone there that knows where he/she is going. Well off to watch some boring Saturday night tv. Maybe I will find a good movie on AMC.

I've been thinking of building a single speed too. But I dont have any bike to rebuild.
I think it will be great!
