This weekend I went to the collegiate cycling race in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was called the Lincoln Plating Spring Classic. It was an absolute blast. 4 of my friends in the cycling club and I loaded up the university maxi van on Friday and headed towards Lincoln. We woke up Saturday fairly early to get to the race course. We had a women's rider for the first time and her race was pretty early in the morning. The men's B race was at 1 and it was 50 miles long. It lasted about 2 hours and it was fairly intense. I was extremely excited because I stayed with the main group for most of the race until I cramped up at the very end. I ended up finishing 11th. Later that afternoon Kyle, Jesse, and I rode in the team time trial. It was the 2nd time I've done that and we rode pretty well. We didn't get last, which was our goal. On Sunday, Jesse and I rode in the circuit race. It was really a great time. The course was 2 miles long and had a few challenging hills. With about 4 laps left in the race, I sprinted up the hill close to the finish and dropped a few riders as I rode by the finish line. The announcer yelled out my name as I rode by and I felt really fired up. Again, I finished with the main field, but I really had nothing left in the tank so I finished in the back of that group. I ended up getting 12th. It was really an awesome weekend and I'm thinking about riding the Iowa City Road Race this weekend.
